FAQ: My data resource failed to sync?

Answer: TrialTrace needs a google sheet url and a single tab name within that google sheet to create a data resource. The first thing to check if you are getting an error importing or syncing is to make sure that the tab name is correct. It is possible that over time, you have changed the tab name in the google sheet, which means that you will now have to update this name in TrialTrace. This can be done by clicking "Edit" to the far right of the data resource, which takes you to the edit resources page where you can change the tab name, shown below

If this looks like the correct tab name, there are a couple of other things to check, but this time, they are settings in your google sheet.

For this, please open the google sheet you tried to upload

First, make sure there are no plus signs '+' in the tab name that you are trying to sync. If there are no plus signs, skip to the next section. If there are, please remove the plus signs by editing the tab name in the google sheet as well as on the edit data resource page seen above, such that the google sheet tab name entry on TrialTrace matches the new tab name (without the plus sign) in the google sheet.

Do you see a green badge next to the title that says ".XLSX"? If you do, it looks like you opened an excel file with google sheets. Unfortunately, this will not work with TrialTrace and you will have to convert it to a google sheet

to convert, click file>save as google sheets. This will open a copy of the excel file, but in the google sheets format need to connect to TrialTrace

Now copy the url of this new sheet you just created and go to back to TrialTrace. Create a new resource, give it a name and paste in the new url you just copied. Type in the name of the tab from the new sheet you wish to import and click "Import data".

If this still gives you an error, go back to the new google sheet and rewrite the name of the tab by double clicking on the tab. You can name it whatever you want, just be sure it is different from the original tab name.

At this point you need to try making a data resource again, this time with the new tab name you just changed it to, you should see your data resource import correctly.

If you are still getting an error please contact support.
